- Oreamnos.
Followed the trail 3 miles E. [east] to the
cliffs on the mountain + climbed the
mountain about 3/4 way up. On the way
found goat mandible - dead a year.
Enemies [underlined]:- Found recent black bear dropping
of goat hair.
[Warden Frank] Borstrom [Burstorm] saw a bear stalking
goats on the shale slide at the cabin
in Aug. [August] 1941. He shot + [at] the bear +
frightened it off.
Parasites:- collected pellets from Lick.
Food:- At lick all young Englemann Spruce? (twigs
glabrous) were browsed to small domes. (see
photo). Juniperus scopulorum + communis
also heavily browsed.
Willow Creek. Aug. [August] 15/43. [1943]
At Shalebanks this morning a nanny +
kid came down to the lick. They spent
3 hours licking a bluish white deposit
off the rocks at the site of former
spring seeps.
Lick:- No fecaliths at these licks +
little if any evidence of laxative effect.
Predation:- The set up here definitely
indicates that predation is very light.
The set up is perfect for predator
activity with all the goat population
using a single trail 3 miles through
timber.
Moult:- Still some old fur on hindquarters.
