to go up to his cabin on Tuesday.
He is President of the local
trappers association.
Aklavik. June 9, 1947.
In morning [Lee] Post went off by air to a
fire near Arctic Red River that we spotted
on our way down. We worked on
the lab. [laboratory] and bought supplies for a
week from H. B. Co. [Hudson's Bay Company] In afternoon
worked north [word crossed out] west along the river bank
about 1 1/2 miles. Vegetation is codom. [codominant]
alder + willow. willow just in flower
+ alder in catkin, no leaves showing
yet. Ice went out June 1, river now
falling fast.

Muskrats just now 80 [cents symbol]. Saw about
a dozen wolverine skins, some of them
siberian. Prices being charged, $40 to $80

Came up here this afternoon, brilliant
sunshine. After unloading the canoe
we went for a tour of the lakes
near at hand. Some are ice free
others still partially ice bound. The
flood is rapidly receding, has been
3 ft [feet] higher than it now is, must
