Sora Rails + Virginia rails in these
spots.
Here we saw another moose a
large Bull cross the river.
On Long lake saw a large bull
+ a cow with 2 calves.
Had lunch at head of Whitesail
River + then ran up lake to
portage - made portage + ran
up Eutsuk to Surel Creek.
All along the lower Tahtsa
is a wonderful place for birds.
Yellow warblers, blackbird,
waterthrush, hermit thrush +
crows abundant. Saw one bittern
+ several loons, a white winged
scoter, 3 broods of Amer. [American] mergansers
a mallard + 2 Goldeneye. Further
up river where conifers predominate
Bohemian waxwings + crossbills
very abundant. Several eagles
were seen + 2 winter wrens
Herring gull colonies on Ootsa
+ Eutsuk.
July 17/36 [1936] Big Eutsuk at Surel Falls.
Fresh beaver work + an old
bank lodge in the creek mouth.
