- Microtus serpens.
Huntingdon, B.C. [British Columbia] Feb. [February] 25./43 [1943].
M. [Microtus] serpens extremely abundant, caught
just 2 specimens. They appear to be entering the
newly sewn [sown] field of winter rye from the adjacent
bush.
Mar. [March] 7/43 [1943]
Took 8 specimens, 4 of each sex. none pregnant.
Mar. [March] 14/43 [1943]
Took 9 specimens 4 [female symbol]'s, 5 [male symbol]. 3 [female symbol]'s pregnant
1-2 foeti 14 mm [millimetres] C.R. [crown-rump], 1-3 foeti 8 mm cr [crown-rump].
12 foeti [word crossed out] eggs just becoming implanted.
All mice so far taken have been heavily
parasitized by mites. Orange ones deep in
ear, pale yellow on rim of pinna - both
causing a scabby condition + large + small
mobile species on body generally. Lice
not common, Fleas not common when
specimens taken from traps.
