Mammals.
Pocket Gopher. 20 separate sets of workings
the largest covering an area
25 yds [yards] by 26 yds [yards]. A conservative
estimate is one per set
of workings (I have taken
three in a single burrow)
gives us 20 gophers or
10 per acre.
Groundhog. 1 burrow near edge of
the area, where it drops
over into the upper cr [creek]
bottom area.
Badger. 1 seen + shot by me in May 1928
This was a female that
had young in a nest
somewhere near by, but
the nest was not located
Mice Mouse tracks were seen in
several places but will be
trapped for at a later date.
