To date we have not taken a pregnant
shrew but today I took one female
bearing 3 large embryos. She was
the heaviest shrew yet taken.

Shrews inhabit all habitats at
all elevations here. We have taken
them on the beach edge, in the
chapparal [chaparral], grass, + deep woods +
their burrows are present in the
hill-top sphagnum. T

Saw one shrew among beach
debris in mid afternoon.
