Dormer Cabin. Aug. [August] 10, 1945.
George Harrison tells me that in 1904 or 5
at the ranch he saw a bull elk. It
was up on the plateau s [south] of the river
immediately opposite the ranch. No other elk anywhere but lots of old antlers.
In 1907 he ran onto quite a bunch
of elk at the mouth of the Blaeberry.
Enemies [underlined] In July 1944 4 miles E [east] of Banff he
saw a coyote catch + kill an elk calf.
Today we found 3 shed antlers
on the big plateau north of the cabin.
[George] Harrison travelled all over this
country north to the Saskatchewan
+ s. [south] to the Bow + is sure there were
no elk anywhere in the period
1903-1920. There were a few
down the Vermilion on the west slope.
