The final sessions were
held this morning. I
had to give the main address
of thanks. It seemed to go
quite well.
Joyce [Cowan] + I shopped in the PM [evening]
Dec [December] 1. [1957] Bangkok.
Went on the joint excursion
of the Zool. [Zoology], Fisheries, Oceanogr. [Oceanography],
+ Botany Sections to Ko Kram [Khram]
([Ko Tao] Turtle Isl. [Island]) in Gulf of Siam.
We left the hotel at 6AM +
drove some 110 km [kilometers] to
breakfast at Bang Phra
Resevoir [reservoir] then went on to
the Naval Training station at
Sattahip. Here we embarked
on the Oceanography vessel
(400 tons) via landing craft
+ sailed out of the harbour
1 1/2 hrs [hours] to Ko Kram [Khram], here a
very amusing + completely
haphazard landing took place.
Saw 2 sea turtles + quantities
of young brought from
the hatchery for release.
Licensees must turn over
30% of the eggs for hatching.
Had a swim in water of
82 [degree symbol] + very high salinity.
Photographed a beach legume
