- Perognathus. [underlined]
Osoyoos, B.C. [British Columbia] May 20,-25/41 [1941]
Perognathus [underlined] definitely abundant
Particularly so on the bracken
sandy areas with many clumps
of greasewood + sage.
We are using as bait both
walnut + rolled oats + neither
of these seem particularly attractive
to the mice.
I have taken one juvenile
+ all [female symbol]'s taken have been in
early pregnancy as follows.
3-7 foetuses; 3-6; 5-5; 2-4
Favourite food at this time of
the year is the seed of the red
grass. Seeds of this plant have been
in pockets of 4 mice, seeds of greasewood in
one- others full of bait or
empty.
Anarchist Mt. [Mountain], B.C. [British Columbia] May 26-28/41 [1941]
Managed to find habitat of
this mountain pocket mouse. About
3/4 mile east of camp in an old
dry gulch crossing the road I took
4, first night + 2 second night.
A little further on in a large
fallow field I took 5 in traps set
around stony areas missed by
