when [Ian McTaggart] Cowan + I set traps for synaptomys. Collected
3 Fox sparrows one of which is very much larger
than the other two, it is a [male symbol] + the small birds are
[male symbol] + [female symbol] respectively, also collected two more
Hermit Thrush + a mountain chickadee, this last
moulting badly + a poor specimen.
Saw the following birds today
Junco 4 W.w. [white-winged] crossbills 3
Chipping sparrow 5 Pine siskin 80/90
Fox sparrow 9 Mtn [Mountain] Chickadee 1
Hermit Thrush 9 or 10 R.B. [Red-breasted] nuthatch 3
Flicker 1 Olive sided Flycatcher 2
*Note that on south westerly + westerly
slopes of this mountain that the spruce
+ mountain hemlock are much more
abundant than on westerly [word crossed out] easterly slope
This morning for first time found Juniper
growing amongst rocky outcroppings on east side
of top of Mt. [Mount] Revelstoke.
July 7. 1937 Today traps produced
2 Perries [Peromyscus], 4 Clethrionomys, 2 Sciurus,
1 Marmota + 1 Callospermophilus
Weather fine + hot with rising barometer.
Birds observed Today,
Golden Eagle hovering over easterly valley.
Hermit Thrush 8 5[crossed out], 1 by stream with 2 yg. [young]
Olive sided Flycatcher 2
Mountain Chickadee 1
Red-b. [breasted] nuthatch 2
Chipping sparrow 3
Junco 5
