- Tim [Miles Timothy Myres]'s new name on the box -
"Mr. Mahoney." Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] rode the
bicycle half way home.
Nancy [Mahoney] and I went half way
up Sorenson to watch grebes
We saw saw two dozen horned larks
and some golden-crown sparrows.
This afternoon Tim [Miles Timothy Myres], Mary [F. Jackson] and I
walked from the road into Culpitt [Culpit?]
Lake. Mary [F. Jackson] inspected one Buff [bufflehead]
nest on a little pond on the
way, where Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] found a Mountain
Chickadee's nest. At Culpitt [Culpit?}
lake there were 6 pairs of Buffs. [buffleheads]
and 2- (?) 3 adult males. One
of those males evidently belonged
to a female whose remains we
found (feathers, down and one
unbroken egg (fresh) and one [male symbol]
Surf Scoter; at least 5 Scaup,
2 prs. [pairs] of Canvasbacks, and
(we noted) one golden-crowned
sparrow and one Canada Jay.
Only Redwings were noted in
the Carex-Typha lake edge. (no
yellow heads or Brewers.) On
the way back Mary [F. Jackson] discovered she
had lost her car keys and so
we had to hitch back to camp;
as we couldn't find which
wires to cross. We got a
