- Seargent RCMP [Royal Canadian Mounted Police]
Corporal. "
Mr Lee Post Warden.
With each discussed local situation
I find that a beginning has been
made in registering trap lines +
that [Lee] Post has been told to proceed
with the registration this year.
This seems to me to be an anomalous
situation that I shall seek to have
clarified. My understanding was that
little would be done until our
study was completed.
The rat take this year has been
very poor + with the price down
to 80 [cent symbol] there will not be much
money in circulation.
General opinion is that the
following are responsible for poor take
1. Late break up.
2. Shortened season closed June 7.
3. High water flooded many sloughs
+ made rats hard to get.
4. Overhunting during last 2 years.
Apparently during last 2 years there
have been poorer catches at the
mouth of the river than at the head
of the delta but prior to that
for a few years the reverse was
true.
