Squirrels extremely active. Chasing each
other all over the place on the ground.
In one grove a [female symbol] had a nest + cone pile
in a bit of down brush + about 4 or 5
males were tearing about giving a
peculiar note like a loud rattling
wheeze. One of them attempted to cover
the [female symbol] but was thrown off + chased away.
Whenever approached too closely she
gave a loud churring note + ran at
the [male symbol]. Pursuit + fights between
the rival males were going on every-
where.
