I. McT. [Ian McTaggart] Cowan 1935 Alta Lake, BC. [British Columbia]
Dec [December] 27, 1935.
Rain with south wind 6' snow
In morning worked up onto
hill to east of lake, very little
stirring. Saw one small flock
of chickadees + kinglets, 2 gray
jays + 1 steller's jay.
After breakfast went down
track to south end of Alpha
Lake, cut back onto Pemberton
trail + returned along it to
Ata. All the way through
heavy forest except where
right of way has been cut
through + at clearing near
Alta.
2 Gray jays
1 Dipper
2 nuthatches
15 Chickadees
5 Kinglets
Tracks of 1 coyote, several
squirrels + a rabbit.
Mr [Kenneth] Racey shot a fine
ad [adult] [female symbol] Pine Grosbeak at the
cabin.
In afternoon took an
unproductive hike up the
Pemberton Trail to mile
39. Saw a large flock
of chickadees + kinglets.
