glaucous w. [winged] gull - adults +
dug some cockles which we
baked for lunch. After
which a high wind springing
up we pulled for home
arriving about 5 o'clock
+ taking a small immature
Bairds Corm. [Cormorant] on the way + one
Female oystercatcher.
Pacific loons not common
but present.
May 27 [1931]. In morning we skinned some
of yesterdays catch + looked at some
of the traps around camp, taking
a russet backed thrush [underlined] and a
Western Flycatcher [underlined].
In the afternoon we walked down
the road + I went over to the
traps on the outer beach. There
was quite a bit of mink sign
around but the animals studiously
avoid anything that looks or
smells suspicious.
Examined deer trails + feeding
grounds in the Jack pine muskeg
+ photographed the same.
In the evening we packed our
sleeping bags + went over to
spend the night at the beach to
see if we could get a shot at
the mink. On the way over
saw a buck deer on the
