Take a clean tight barrel. Put in
1/2 bushel Lime. Slake it by
pouring boiling water on it, sufficient
to cover it 5 inches deep, stirring it
all the time till fully skaked. When
slaked, dissolve it water and add
2 pounds sulphate of Zinc and 1

Receipt No. 1. Dissolve chloride of
Lime of the best quality, in pure water
in the proportion of 4 ounces to the gallon.
Excellent for Cholera, Typhoid or diptheria.
Receipt No. 2
Dissolve Corrosive Sublimate
and permangenate of potash, in pure
water in the proportions of 2 drams of
Each salt to the gallon. This is quite
odorless and is best for a sick room.
It is highly poisonous

To disinfect the person, use chlorinate
Soda (Liquor soda Chlorinata) diluted
with 9 parts of water

not be placed in metal vessels but in a
wooden tub or Earthenware crock.

For privy vaults, where any infectious
Excreta has been poured, use one pound of
Corrosive Sublimate for Every 500 pounds
of fecal matter. Or use if only plain
Excretia use chloride of Lime. If the
odor is objectionable, use Receipt No. 2
by applying daily or 5 gallon, which
should be kept in a barrel ready.
