Aug [August] 2-13, Indianpoint Lake. B.C. [British Columbia]
Trapped [female symbol] and 3 yng [young] [male symbol]'s.
The young were all in
the dark stage of growing
winter pelage, the [female symbol] in
worn summer pelage.
The yng [young] [male symbol]'s were bigger than
the [female symbol] parent. The den of
this family was in an
abandoned beaver house.
Many (5) entrances had been
dug into it. All feces
were in one place.
On the evening of
Aug. [August] 12 we saw a [female symbol] with
2 yng [young] [male symbol]'s. The
[male symbol]'s were following the
mother closely + kept up
a subdued barking squeal
all the time. I saw the
old one quickly climb a
low bush + attempt to
catch a song sparrow.
Some 15 minutes after
the [female symbol] + yng [young] [male symbol]'s passed us -
about 7 P.M. along came
the two yng [young] [female symbol]'s following
the much the same route
as the others. One of them
scented us + dived under
the canoe, coming up
