White-footed mice:- Everywhere;
have taken them among rocks
+ grass by the stream, among
the cottonwood trees, among
the maple, saskatoon + snow-
berry clumps + even around
the bases of the sage bushes
where the dead branches
afforded some shelter.
An occassional [occasional] weasel
probably hunts the area but
I am satisfied that they do
not inhabit it.
Birds. Crows: Flocks come to drink.
Brewers Blackbirds:- nest in low bushes
such as maple, etc. [etcetera]
Bullock's Oriole, 1 pr [pair] nested in cottonwood.
Arkansas Kingbird, 1 pr [pair] " " "
W. [Western] Wood Pewee, 1 pr [pair] " " "
Lark Sparrow 1 pr [pair] nested among stones
Found nest today - empty. 2 sage on drier area
pr. [pair] + 3 young around
Chipping sparrow 2 prs [pairs] nested in sage.
Flicker, 1 pr [pair] nested in hole in cliff
