- Westwick Lake Saturday, June 11/55 [1955]
Weather: fine - wind in the morning
and evening.
Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] took 100 feet of film of Matilda
and put a recorder on Mrs.
Thursday. I walked up with him
as far as Mrs. Thursday, and found
another Brewers nest on the way
back. Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] found three more,
and on the way up we found
a redwing's nest in the fringe
of reeds at the edge of the lake
In the [words crossed out] Cas Lindsey and Gordon
Hartman arrived and stayed for
Lunch, leaving a half-bag of
cookies. After lunch we banded
the flickers in the pasture, and
Nancy [Mahoney] and I dug the second half
of the garden. Everything is up
in the first half, except the beans.
Cas [Lindsey] drove Nancy and Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] up
Johnson's road to a lake past
Basaraha's [?]. The building was derelict.
They then came down to Bowie's [Bowe's]
but the swallows' nests were too
high. Betty [Cox] and her friend Joyce
rode down after dinner to say
hello. Betty had been down before
lunch to see what time it was.
I cycled down to Betty's after,
to talk and unpack her dishes.
