July 16, 1936, Ootsa Lake B.C. [British Columbia] to Eutsuk Lake
This morning we left Ootsa Lake
at 5 A.M. Mr + Mrs Yeo Kemple, Joyce [Cowan]
+ self in a 24 ft [foot] flat bottomed
boat with 10 H.P. [horsepower] Johnson outboard
up Ootsa L. [Lake] 24 miles to Tahtsa
river. Just opposite "windy point"
we photographed 2 young
bull moose swimming the
lake. The n. [north] shore of Ootsa L. [Lake]
is lightly timbered along the
margin with aspen, Black
poplar + willow, back from
the shore unbroken stands
of Spruce + Jack pine
stretch as far as the eye
can see. The S [South] shore is
Timbered with spruce + pine
to the waters edge except
on the sandy points where
aspen predominates.
Where the Tahtsa River flows
into the lake + up that river
to its junction with the
