- Westwick Lake Wednesday, July 6
Weather: rain showers
Nancy [Mahoney] rode down Westwick
again. Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] did the nests
in our field, and banded
young; and he did the
cliff swallows on the house.
I cleaned out both stoves
and mended the banding
nets.
Dr. [Ian McTaggart] Cowan, Dr. [Miklos D.F.] Udvardy, and
Dr. Sangene [John Sanjean?] arrived in the
evening.
Westwick Lake Thursday, July 7
Weather: intermittent drizzle
In the morning everyone except
Dr. [Miklos D.F.] Udvardy (who watched birds
here) drove into town to buy
Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] some chicken wire for a
duck enclosure. In the
afternoon Tim [Miles Timothy Myres], Dr. [Miklos D.F.] Udvardy and
I made the enclosure, while
Dr. [Ian McTaggart] Cowan and Nancy [Mahoney] counted
eggs from the canoe on Sorenson
and Dr. Sangene [John Sanjean?] collected flies.
After dinner Dr. [Ian McTaggart] Cowan and I
(accompanied by Dollie and
Johnnie) walked around Sorenson
catching frogs and two grey mice.
