Jasper. May 2, 1944.
Warden [A.H.] White reports coyotes almost
absent from his area until toward
the end of March when quite a
movement went through. He shot
3 at that time.
Census:- Saw a single medium sized
animal today on Dominion Prairie.
Devona. May 3/44 [1944]
Saw a small gray coyote just
west of the cabin. It was standing
close to 4 rams who were paying no
attention to it.
Saw a fresh den about 2 miles
west of the cabin. It is situated in
a deep, S [south] facing ravine.
Jasper. May 5, 1944
Frank Wells last fall watched
two coyotes harrying a big buck
mule deer. The deer was
ignoring them + refused to run.
Disease:- Major Wood reports some 50% of the
coyotes as mangy.
Jasper. May 6, 1944
Saw a coyote 1 1/2 miles up the Miette
Hot Springs road.
