The chipmunks were in a
pine tree, 10 ft [feet] off ground
in a small gully. Vegetation:

+ a little poison ivy
I dug out an apparently

June 16./29 [1929] Schiedam Flats. Bright.
Open, rolling country on hill
side, bordered by forrests [forests] of
pine + fir. Open country
covered with grass + flowering
plants, such as lupine
A great many microtus
burrows were to be seen.
Particularly on the lupine covered
slopes leading up to the
timber where the ground
was, in places, honeycombed.
Marginalia: Took large blue racer.
