  • Odocoileus hemionus [underlined] Banff - May 20/45 [1945] Counted deer on Norquay immediately after a heavy snowfall. Bucks 6, does 8, 1944 crop 4. " [Banff] July 4/45 [1945] Kills:- On Mt [mount] Edith Pass trail 1 yearling no indication of cause of death. Waterton L. [Lake] July 10/45. [1945] Mule deer numerous + apparently increasing. Have recently been seen as far east as Lethbridge - we saw one at Twin Butte this morning. Saw 11 does one with twins. " [Banff] July 16/45 [1945] Mr [F.H.] Riggall showed me a photo of 6 bucks, taken Feb. [February] 7. 2 with antlers 4 without. " [Banff] July 17/45 [1945] Caught + photographed a mule deer [female symbol] fawn, weight about 15 lbs. [pounds] When first seen it was in a half crouch on the trail. + frozen in that position. Dormer Cabin. Aug [August] 10, 1945. Quite a number of deer in here. Apparently a few even winter here as I found a shed antler just above the cabin. Saw 5 bucks + 3 does here today + yesterday.
