  • 30 Aug. [August] 6-7-8. [1929] Kamloops B.C. [British Columbia] Fine-Fine-Thunder. Ecological Survey. Area Type. Birch? Upper Cr [Creek] Bottom Exact Location Alt. [Altitude] 1750-1900 or 2000 ft. [feet] Exp no. [Experiment number] 1B area. approximately 10 yds [yards] wide + extending for several miles. Shut in on each side by high, steep banks + occassional [occasional] huge rock cliffs. The banks are covered with bunch grass + are fairly well wooded by [word crossed out] with fir trees. The lower edges of thes [these] banks, just where they drop into the actual river bottom has numerous clumps of co [crossed out] saskatoon berry + maple. + in general are very much like parts of the lower cr. [creek] bottom. Along the creek itself the soil is a rich loam, in marked contrast with the clay + sand mixture of the lower area. Birch is much more abundant than cottonwood Marginalia: Give notes on grazing conditions whether overgrazed or not. This largely effects the vegetation and is very important in the this survey. Also presence of domestic animals in spring months of vital importance.
