the spruce woods held a single
Red backed mouse and a peromyscus
The traps around the lake shore
held several microtus and
3 Jumping Mice.
On the way back from the traps
Alan [Racey] and I saw 3 Black Terns
and took a moulting Water Thrush [underlined].
Spent the rest of the day skinning
July 27 [1931]. Alan [Racey] + I started the
day by canoeing down to the
Spruce woods. Our luck was
not as good as yesterday no rabbits
being taken but two of the
snares were broken.
The mouse traps held one Red
backed Mouse. and several
Peromyscus. I lifted all my
mouse traps from across
the lake + am going to set
them out on this side
On the way down in the morning
Alan [Racey] + I found a Holboel's Grebe
nest containing two eggs
that from first appearances
were brown with white vermiculations
Spent the afternoon fishing [word crossed out]
skinning + the evening
canoeing on the lake.
