- Station Maria Cliafa[?] Isl. [Island] Mexico. March 5, 1962
Very low tide at 2:30 PM. This exposed
large areas of coral near the edge of the
sandstone reefs. Coral rubble abundant
intertidally at present, particularly on the
long peninsula running out from the
E [east] point. Several large eroded sandstone
outcrops stand out in this flat, these
are undercut. In the shade, at high tide
line I found 10 or 12 Purpura patula [underlined]
3 pairs of these were copulating, the large
specimen [female symbol], the small ones [male symbol]. A cluster
of 30 [+/-] chitons were around a splash pool
on top of a sandstone block. On 2 of these there was
a single limpet of distinctive form; The black
fine ribbed spines seem to line either [illegible word] the
Patella mexicana [underlined] or free.
Found 2 species of chiton under coral blocks
one is from [word crossed out] provided with [illegible word] + is of normal shape,
