  • Puget Sound Sparrow. [underlined] 554 C Zonotrichia leucophrys pugetensis [underlined] April 5/35. [1935] The first arrival seen this year in hedge along South end of ranch - Huntingdon B.C. [British Columbia] April 13/35. [1935] Only one seen in bush on Mr. Johnston's farm Sea Island B.C. [British Columbia] April 21/35 [1935] Two pairs now nesting about ranch. None found in Burtons fields where they were so common last year. Feby. [February] 8. 1921 Vancouver B.C. [British Columbia] Heard one of these birds sing during early morning hours. Evidently roosts in holly tree in front garden next door as we frequently hear this bird sing about 11 p.m. Sept. [September] 7. 1921. Lulu Is [Island] B.C. [British Columbia] A solitary bird seen on bush by roadside near Blundell Station. Road 9. July 2. 1929. Lulu Is. B.C. [British Columbia] Four seen along dyke at end of Road 8. Sept. [September] 13, 14, 15, 16., 1936. Victoria B.C. [British Columbia] Seen in migration about city in flocks. Huntingdon B.C. [British Columbia] July 19. 1936 [underlined] Nest 2 ft [feet] from ground in farm near [illegible word] 4 eggs. Hatched out today. Nest was tipped up + young gone on 21st July Huntingdon B.C. [British Columbia] June 5 1937 [underlined] Two pair of these birds nesting near ranch house. One pair by gate + the other near fence in middle of ranch. Now feeding young of first brood. Lulu Isd. [Island] dyke near Steveston B.C. [British Columbia] March 29. 1938 In company with Mrs T.L. Thacker. Cold west wind. Flock of about a dozen white crowns in bushes [underlined] along slough behind dyke. Three of these were in immature plumage, this we carefully noted.
