This is the most abundant
animal at 6000' + was seen
by us at all elevations up to
that.
On certain hillsides they
seem to show a preference for the bulbs of erythronium
which they dig industriously.
In several places I found
tubes of earth, evidently
deposited under the snow
after the manner of the
pocket gophers.
