for 15 minutes she carefully ate
salal berries. In 25 minutes
she covered a distance of about 100 yds. [yards]
Flies bothering her, I approach
down hill to within 30 yards out
of sight + sit down until she feeds
into view. Flies are getting
worse + she feeds at a quick
walk, finally lopes to top of
nearby hill [word crossed off] knoll, feeds for a
few minutes + then descends
into alder thicket where feeding
continues. At no time does
she pay much close attention to
her surroundings
8:30. Bright sun, temp [temperature] on shady side
of hill 62 [degree symbol]. Doe + fawn feeding.
in green bottom in sun. Shaking
heads + tails denote flies bothersome
Doe leads, fawn follows. Fawn
feeds until doe 10-15 yards ahead
then runs to doe + begins feeding
again. Break into run for
heavy clump of bracken at base
of stump + bed down.
