- Sciurus hudsonicus streatori Allen [underlined] Streator Red Squirrel [underlined] Texas Cr. [Creek] Lilloet [Lillooet] B.C. [British Columbia] Nov [November] 1st to 6th incl [inclusive] 1937 Very numerous from alt. [altitude] 700' [feet] (Fraser Riv [River]) up to 8000 ft. [feet] Especially common amongst Pinus albicaulis 6500 to 8000. These squirrel + Clarks Crows had pretty well collected all available crop of cones. Noted that the squirrels + Clarks Crows cut open the cones while hanging in the trees + that the squirrels apparently did not cache the whole cone but seeds only which are very large. Squirrels taken at around 7000 feet had pelage more prime than those taken lower down valley.
