Ecology -
Small swamp on edge of 1938
burn.
In the shallow water +
just wet sandy mud
Carex [underlined] exists in solid
mats, as a dominant, in
the areas where the water
is a foot or less deep
Ranunculus flammula [underlined], Veronica
scutellata [underlined] and Oenanthe sarmentosa [underlined]
are dominant. On the marshy
shore line Mimulus moschatus [underlined]
Epilobium adenocaulon [underlined], Lyschiton [Lysichiton] [underlined]
Equisetum arvense [underlined], the small
Carex [underlined], the wood rush [word crossed out]
and Galium triflorum [underlined].
In one moist spot
a small fern
is a dominant member. A few
alders + a lot of willows
sprouting from the base
surround the pond. In the
deeper water the tall feather
grass Glyceria is characteristic.
