Kills:- Found 3 old sheep kills, one with
horns still on. A 6 year old with
horns up to nose level + 30" curl.
Cairn Cabin. July 15/44 [1944]
On mountain slopes on east side of
valley counted 17 ad [adult] ewes, 2 yrl. [yearling] [female symbol]'s, 1
yrl. [yearling] [male symbol], 1, 2 yr [year] [male symbol], 10 lambs (2 of the [female symbol]'s
had twins. 1 4 yr [year] ram crossed
the valley to the ram range. No
rams of this age have been
included in the [illegible words crossed out] bands of
ewes + young seen on the east side
+ I suspect that they are coming
from outside this park - over
the range. We have now seen
5 rams - 2 of them 8 yr [year] +.- cross the
valley.
Southesk Lake. July 16/44. [1944]
Saw 4 rams crossing from E [east] to W [west] across
the Cairn river. One was an old [underlined] ram.
Up here there is sheep sign in the
form of trails along the W. [west] face of
Mt [Mount] Southesk but so little feed
that the trails probably represent
transit routes between other feeding
grounds.
Kills:- found jaws of lamb (winter 1942-43).
