The actions of a pair of these birds
suggests that they have a nest here.

At least 4 pairs are nesting in
the vicinity of the S [south] small lake.
" [8 mi [miles] N. [north] Aklavik] June 13, 1947.
Found 3 nests tonight. One is 35' [feet]
up on a witches broom on a spruce
one is about 30 ft [feet] up on a large
tufted spruce bough + one is
on the trunk of a spruce
leaning out over the water + only
about 6 ft [feet] above the water.
This last one has one egg in it
This female [words crossed out] Only bird is incubating as are the
other two.

Found a nest with 3 eggs partially
incubated (7 days [+/-]) in a leaning tree
overhanging cabin lake. Both birds
in attendance

Beginning in the last week of June
Short-billed gulls began to appear in
some abundance upon the river
here + all along its course.
Langs, 36 mi [miles] S [south] of Aklavik. Aug. [August] 5/47 [1947]
Saw a pair of gull chicks, almost
fledged. Another one seen yesterday.
