Two types of grass are noticeable,
a fine leaved type with compact flower
head is abundant on the open, dry areas
a coarser leaved species is found in
the gullies + more moist areas.
Utilization
Fine leaved grass 95-98% last years
growth removed 75% of new growth
has been eaten at least once.
Coarse leaved grass not much utilized
about 10% + chiefly the new growth.
Sage: Average height of upright stems
25 mm [millimetres]. Average utilization of 50 quadrats
50% stems browsed.
Juniperus scopulorum [underlined]: Some tip browsing
but not possible to get a figure. Most
damage is result of tramping. This
breaks off the tips.
Juniperus communis :[underlined]
Tip browsed about 20%.
