2 Mt. [Mountain] Bluebird.
6 Canada Jays.
2 Olive sided flycatchers.
2 Pine Grosbeak
Mt. [Mount] Revelstoke July 9, 1937.
The north side of the mountain is quite
different from the south, and west slopes.
Here the forest is more open with any small
swampy meadows. The willow comes up the
streams almost to 6000'. There are several
large open meadows of grass, sedge and ery-
thronium through which flow streams with
their attendant vegetation.
Only the steepest parts have azalea and
blueberries. These plants seem to grow better
on the drier hillsides of the south slope.
Incidentally the S. [south] slopes have been burned
over large areas many years ago.
July 10, 1937. Eva Lake, Revelstoke Park, B.C. [British Columbia]
To-day we came over from Balsam Lake - about
5 1/2 miles by trail. Bright sunshine all day. We
left Balsam lake at 9 a.m. and with some delays
en route arrived here before noon.
After lunch I ran out some mouse traps
around the lake and then climbed to the peak
overlooking Miller Lake.
Around Eva Lake the country is extremely
rough, rising rapidly to 8000' in a series of
sharp ridges of broken rock.
