- Mr Elkington at the store said that
the Indians had taken a very large
deer the other day. It had an
ordinary 3 point head but
this was very large for the
deer of this vicinity.
May 12 [1931]. In the morning we walked
over to Chestermans beach, on
the way taking another red
squirrel, this animal was paler
below than most of the others
but is still darker than normal.
At the beach we saw semipalmated
plover + sandpipers, Least sandp. [sandpipers]
and Black bellied Plovers. We then
climbed over the rocks between
Chestermans beach + Garrod's [also Garrard and Mackenzie]
beach. On the way we noticed
a number of burrows +
runways in the moss under
the stunted cedars on the
first + 3rd [third] points. On the
small beach were numerous
mink tracks.
Saw Pair of Tattler
many Dunlin.
In the afternoon we skinned
specimens.
May 13 [1931] - Skinned specimens all
morning. Mr Guppy brought
us round a 16 ft [foot] flat
bottom skiff in place of
