- Cervus
elk are noticeably less abundant at the
road levee
Kills:- Frank Wells tells me he has found
20-30 dead elk this spring. Many of them
without signs of violence.
Range:- According to Warden Cyril Fuller
he has seen no resident cows on
the Panther inside the Park. Last fall
4 or 5 cows + a young bull came in
for a few days + then went out
over Wigmore Pass.
First elk seen by him there were
4 or 5 bulls in 1927.
Head of Brazeau R. [River] July 27, 1943.
Elk sign abundant on Nigel Pass. Saw one
ad [adult] [male symbol] very wild.
Brazeau Basin. July 28/43 [1943]
Saw 2 bulls feeding on river flat above our camp
in evening. Elk tracks along Jonas
Pass trail + abundantly on Brazeau River
bars below camp.
Kills:- in timber about 2 miles below our Nigel
Pass camp found a bull skeleton, antlers
shed - dead 2 yrs [years].

Saw 5 adult bull elk feeding above
timberline - 2 prs [pairs] + a single.
Kill [underlined] Found where a grizzly had cleaned
up a dead yearling. Great quantities of
hair indicate a decomposing carcas [carcass]
