Range notes:- very little sign of elk activity along
the road to lake Minnewanka + warden [Ernest] Stenton
confirms the virtual absence of elk from
the area.
No game seen until Vermilion Crossing
but a slide about 1.5 miles [west] of there
supported a heavy growth of willow +
birch. This was heavily browsed -
about to capacity or even beyond
This same condition persisted all the
way to Radium. Willow + dwarf birch heavily
browsed, young aspens heavily but
not critically damaged, vine maple
moderately used, dogwood almost
killed. Birch, alder, maple + cedar on south slope.
Part of the sheep range at Sinclair
Canyon is very sparsely vegetated +
definitely is not good sheep country
Game seen.
