- Whitesail is low lying,
mostly willow, dogwood
+ poplar with frequent
meadows of swamp grass.
Here we saw another moose
- a large bull, cross the
river. The margin of
Long Lake + Whitesail river
is thinly bordered with
willow scrub backed
by spruce + pine. On
Long Lake saw large bull
moose + cow with 2 calves
Had lunch at head of Whitesail
river then ran up the
Whitesail Lake, portaged to
Eutsuk + on to Surel
Falls at the extreme
W. end of Eutsuk. The
lower end of whitesail
Lake is heavily timbered
with Spruce, pine + balsam.
The same applies to Eutsuk.
About the mouth of Surel
Creek was a small area
of deciduous growth willow,
dogwood + green alder.
All along the lower Tahtsa
is a wonderful place for
birds, Yellow warblers, Water
thrushes, blackbirds, Hermit thrush
