[August] 31st [1943] Left 8:10 for Mt Albert Edward.
Weather fine + clear; clouded by 11 A.M.
1st lunch at Half dome ridge. Collected
pipit, 4 ptarmigans en route. Made peak
by 2:45. Beebe collected 2 Rosy finches.
Snow, fog, then rain. Home by 7:30
in heavy rain, soaking wet.
(Left 17 mouse traps set at Mariwood[?] Camp
en route in A.M. [morning])
Sept [September] 1 [1943] Foggy + wet - trip to Mariwood; five mice
in traps. Spent most of day making
up specimens. Rain. Ward arrived
about 5 PM, alone.
Sept [September] 2 [1943] Fine and clear. Up early to pack and
make camp ready for winter. Trouble with breaking
gear in packing horses delayed start till going
on 11. Trail extremely muddy. Arrived Dove
creek 5:30. Made gas station by 6 P.M. to
fill up. Supper at Qualicum. Victoria by
12:30 midnight.
