  • brown spots. It is covered with a cream colour glaze. It was found at Nanping, Linxian in Henan province. 75 Two bowls glazed stoneware, d. 10.3 cm and 9.5 cm Northern Song dynasty, 960-1126 ARM and FMN Two small bowls with combed floral designs and five spur marks on interior, covered with light grey glaze. 76 Bowl glazed stoneware, d. 17 cm Northern Song dynasty, 960-1126 ARM Bowl of conical shape on small foot with interior cov�ered by brownish-black glaze containing speckled crystallization surrounded by an irridescent glitter. This �leopard spot� type of glaze is a mutation which occurs in the kiln. Dark greenish-brown glaze on exterior. Rim has a neutral glaze coating a wide band of white slip. The bowl was obtained at Neihuang, east of Anyang. 77 Bowl glazed stoneware, d. 12.2 cm Northern Song/Jin period, 11th-12th centuries JMH Shallow bowl on straight vertical footrim with lustrous dark greenish-brown glaze dappled with irregular rus�set-coloured splashes on interior and exterior. 78 Bowl (left) glazed stoneware, d. 15.1 cm Northern Song/Jin period, 11 th-12th centuries FMN Bowl of conical shape on small sturdy foot covered with thick, lustrous black glaze except for the foot, which is unglazed, and the rim, where a neutral glaze coats a wide band of white slip. Bowl (right) glazed stoneware, d. 14.8 cm Northern Song/Jin period, 11th-12th centuries JMH Deep bowl with lobed sides covered with lustrous black glaze. The foliated rim has a neutral glaze coating a band of white slip. 79 Tea Bowl (left) stoneware, Henan brown ware, d. 10.3 cm Northern Song dynasty, 960-1127 FMN Tea bowl of conical shape on small foot covered inside and out with a russet-brown glaze, which stops short of foot on exterior. Tea Bowl (right) glazed stoneware, d. 12 cm Northern Song/Jin period, 11th-12th centuries ARM Tea bowl of conical shape with slightly rounded sides on small foot, covered inside and out with lustrous black glaze, which stops short of foot on exterior. 80 Small jar (left) glazed stoneware, ht. 9 cm Northern Song/Jin period, 11th-12th centuries ARM Pear-shaped jar with two handles and small mouth covered with lustrous black glaze stopping well short of base. It was obtained in Anyang. Small covered pot (middle) glazed stoneware, ht. 10.2 cm Northern Song/Jin period, 11th-12th centuries FMN Pot has globular body covered with black glaze with many voids and the lid has streaked black glaze. Small jar (right) glazed stoneware, ht. 7 cm Northern Song/Jin period, 11th-12th centuries FMN Jar with high shoulders and recessed neck has lustrous black glaze stopping well short of base. 81 Vase glazed stoneware, ht. 19 cm Northern Song/Jin Period, 11th-12th centuries FMN Black-glazed vase with radiating ribs in groups of three made of white slip, ovoid body, tall neck, trumpet�shaped mouth and splayed foot. Although many black- glazed, white-ribbed vessels have been excavated at Henan kilns, this vase which was excavated at Jinan, Shandong province may be from the Zibo kilns in Shandong which also produced black-glazed, white ribbed vessels. 82 Small bowl stoneware, Longquan ware, d. 8.5 cm Song dynasty, 12th century arm Bowl with wide bottom, straight lightly sloping sides, everted rim, small unglazed foot-ring, covered with dark celadon glaze. 83 Tripod censer (left) stoneware, Jun ware, ht. 5 cm Jin/Yuan period, 12th-13th centuries fmn Censer with bulbous body, short straight neck, wide mouthrim, three small legs left in biscuit, covered by beautiful lavender-blue glaze. Tripod censer (right) stoneware, Longquan ware, ht. 3.7 cm Song dynasty, 12th-13th centuries JMH Censer same shape as previous one but covered with celadon glaze. 84 Small covered jar yingqing type ware, ht. 4.3 cm Jin/Yuan period, 13th-early 14th centuries fmn Bluish-green glazed jar with vertical ribbing, lid has relief decoration in shape of lotus petals crowned with a short stem. It was excavated from the same site as Cizhou pillow�colour plate G. White makeup powder, with a high lead content, was found inside jar.
