76 Bowl
glazed stoneware, d. 17 cm Northern Song dynasty, 960-1126 ARM Bowl of conical shape on small foot with interior cov�ered by brownish-black glaze containing speckled crystallization surrounded by an irridescent glitter. This �leopard spot� type of glaze is a mutation which occurs in the kiln. Dark greenish-brown glaze on exterior. Rim has a neutral glaze coating a wide band of white slip. The bowl was obtained at Neihuang, east of Anyang.

Pot has globular body covered with black glaze with many voids and the lid has streaked black glaze.

Jar with high shoulders and recessed neck has lustrous black glaze stopping well short of base.

Black-glazed vase with radiating ribs in groups of three made of white slip, ovoid body, tall neck, trumpet�shaped mouth and splayed foot. Although many black- glazed, white-ribbed vessels have been excavated at Henan kilns, this vase which was excavated at Jinan, Shandong province may be from the Zibo kilns in Shandong which also produced black-glazed, white ribbed vessels.

Bowl with wide bottom, straight lightly sloping sides,
everted rim, small unglazed foot-ring, covered with
dark celadon glaze.

yingqing type ware, ht. 4.3 cm
Jin/Yuan period, 13th-early 14th centuries fmn Bluish-green glazed jar with vertical ribbing, lid has relief decoration in shape of lotus petals crowned with a short stem. It was excavated from the same site as Cizhou pillow�colour plate G. White makeup powder, with a high lead content, was found inside jar.
