Weather: A.M. [morning] rain; p.m. [afternoon] fine - thunder
showers.
Tim [Miles Timothy Myres], Dr. [Ian McTaggart] Cowan and Dr. [Miklos D.F.] Udvardy
looked for Goldeneye nests down
the north side of Westwick.
They heard a hermit thrush, and
saw a great many horned
larks, adult and young.
Nancy [Mahoney] rode Pickles down the
other end [word crossed out] side of the lake and
met them. She collected eggs and
checked the grebe nests. Tim [Miles Timothy Myres]'s
party saw a horned grebe with
a two-week young, and an
eared grebe with a three-week
young. Dr. Sangene [John Sanjean?] collected
some Sarcophagids.
In the afternoon we went
to Boytano [Boitano] Lake. Nancy [Mahoney], Dr.
[Ian McTaggart] Cowan and I looked through
some old deserted ranch buildings
for nests, but found only one
cliff and one barn swallow.
The barn swallow had two eggs.
There was a mixed flock of yellow-
head and Brewers blackbirds in
the field by the lake.
Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] saw 60 white wing
scoters and many scaup. On
a little pond at the end of
