At Maligne Canyon saw 9 rams of
which 2-3 year olds + 2 yr [year] olds not
previously counted.
Shalebanks - May 17/44.[1944]
On the west lick here this afternoon
were 15 sheep.
12 [male symbol]'s 5 yrs [years] to 7 yrs [years] + 3 [female symbol]'s
These were wild + did not behave
like a bunch from Devona.

Today counted 10 sheep far back on the
lower slopes of the main range west
of here. There were 3 [female symbol]'s on the lick
here all day in addition to the above but
then I counted them yesterday.
Topaz Shelter May 19/44. [1944]
Census [underlined] On the sidehills just south of the natural
arch there are some fine grass slopes -
clear of snow + on these I counted 22 [underlined]
head of bighorn of which 3 were ad [adult] [male symbol], 2 juv [juvenile]
[male symbol] of 3 yrs. [years] 3 [female symbol]'s + 3 yearlings. (see May 30)
Topaz. May 30/44 [1944]
Made a better count of sheep + today
saw 32 head as follows
18 [male symbol] 4 [female symbol] 2 yearl. [yearlings] 8 not det. [determined] Among
them was one very large ram -
I would say certainly a 40 inch head
possibly better. He was leader of the
flock of 24.
