- Synaptomys
July 6, 1937. Mt. [Mount] Revelstoke B.C. [British Columbia]
Took a [female symbol] bearing 3 foetuses
in the same colony as I
secured the 3 [male symbol]'s.
Also took a [male symbol] in a
mouse trap set in a runway
of M. [Microtus] richardsoni macropus
July 8, 1937. Mt [Mount] Revelstoke.
Along the creek behind
Mt [Mount] Revelstoke a series of
small streams spring from
the hillside. At the head of
each is a small area
of meadow composed mainly
of the short black headed sedge
+ of cotton grass (1-tufted)
In these meadows I found
many synaptomys nests + runways.
The nests were on elevations
or near the heather about
the meadow, so that they were
dry. Each was shaped like
an inverted bowl, 6 to 8
in. [inches] in diameter + composed
entirely of dry sedges wound
together, the interior was of
finely shredded sedge
One nest was occupied
by a [female symbol] Synaptomys. This animal
was secured + contained 4 30 mm [millimetre] foetuses
