  • Acknowledgements In 1991 Carol Potter Peckham donated most of her large Chinese Yixing ware collection to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria and the Vancouver Museum. Both institutions were weak in this aspect of their respective collections and now they are well represented in this field. We are deeply indebted to Mrs. Peckham for this donation and for her support with this publication. In the past Yixing ware was not really systematically collected or studied. Appreciation of Yixing stoneware has become more popular due largely to the pioneer works of Terese Tse Bartholomew of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and Mr. K. S. Lo, a major Hong Kong collector and scholar of Yixing. We are grateful for their extensive scholarship. Also, Ms. Bartholomew must be thanked for the advice she has given to Mrs. Peckham and to the curators of this exhibition. There are a number of people to thank for their support and loans to the exhibition. The Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation has financially assisted with the publication of this small catalogue. Additional lenders of artifacts listed in the Appendix include Eugene and Marie Horvath, the Menzies family, Robert Miller, Hilda Hale, Byron Johnstad, Mrs. H. F. Chen, Mary Hummel and Brian S. McElney. We are also grateful to the following staff members for their assistance at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria: Ann Tighe, Mary and Brian Patten, Chris Russell and John McIntosh. At the Vancouver Museum: Lynne Thomas, Sandy Blair, Chris Friesen, Bee Walters, Scott Johnson and Carol Brynjolfsen. Special thanks must go to Henry Tabbers of the Vancouver Museum for photography of Vancouver items and Bob Matheson for Victoria items. Mr. Yim Tse must also be thanked for the calligraphy and Mr. Lai Yuk-man for his assistance with deciphering some seals. To all those mentioned above, our profound appreciation.
