- Warblers + 5 Juncos. Of all
the habitat types here represented
this is the deadest as regards
both birds + mammals.
There are a few skunks
here. I examined the skin of
a Mephitis in [Norman] Schreiber's
store today. Fox are quite
common, also coyote + wolves. An occassional [occasional] Fisher
is taken between Ootsa + Francois lakes, + some
muskrats in the various
small lakes

Cloudy all day with high
wind since yesterday morning.
Traps took only one small
vole + one large one.
Lifted most of the mouse
traps + re set some along the
edge of a spruce muskeg.
Set 3 weasel traps, 2 flying
squirrel traps + 3 more traps
for pack rats.
Picked up a rabbit skull
a pack rat skull + a coyote
skull in the muskeg + found
the remains of two other
rabbits that had had the
