July 8/48 [1948] Meldrum Creek, B.C. [British Columbia]
Eric Collier reports that a lone animal
was shot in 1929 +/- near Fish Lake on
this water shed. It had been around
for about 3 years + was quite tame.
About the same time 6 were
reported to have been shot on the Dome
near by but he has no confirmation
of this.
Mrs Colliers grandmother (Indian) related
seeing herds of elk about 1838. She
said that all died during one
very severe winter
