Rabbit. very scarce this year.
Weasel. Probably a pair or so in
3 or 4 miles.
Pack Rat. Known only from feces
found around stumps +
rocky ledges on the cliffs,
impossible to estimate the
numbers, but they are not
common
Trapping.
On the night of Aug [August] 7 [1929] I put
out 24 traps in about 150
yards along the stream. 6 were
placed in the various runs
of the vole colony but this
had been previously trapped
out, 8 individuals having been
taken. These traps were
visited nearly every hour
all night. Only 1 tick?
was taken. Crickets, a large
black beetle, a long legged
spider like creature + 2 varieties
of ants united in eating the
bait on the traps.
