Campbell R. [River] Jan. [January] 15/49 [1949].
17 Trumpeter Swans on small lakes
on Greenstone Creek.
5 first year birds, 4 apparently 2nd
year. 8 adults. The 5 juveniles
were 4 of one brood, one of a second.
R.S. Hayes reports another group
of 11 on the same area.
Food apparently almost entirely
Eleocharis acicularis [underlined] R+S [Roem. & Schult] forma
inundata [underlined] Svenson. A submerged
variety of this plant. Had apparently
been eating flower stems of cow lilly [lily]
also.
